Every week, during my work hours I write and review blog articles to be published weekly on our company's Medium page. I have written and helped plan articles about a variety of topics such as DEI (diversity, equity and inclusion), project management strategies and other updates related to our company. Additionally, after publishing the articles on our Medium page, I also share the articles on our other social media platforms along with some additional written content and visual illustrations.
Throughout this experience, I learned both some hard and soft skills. By starting the company blog page and constantly writing articles, I was able to improve my blog writing skills (specifically writing styles and tone of voice) to boost our online reach. Additionally, I expanded my creativity by coming up with many topics that often included research (ex. surveys or interviews), which created a more diverse reading experience for our two target audiences. In terms of soft skills, I was able to push myself out of my comfort zone and begin a project on my own. When I was unsure of how to approach this project, I reached out to a marketing Co-Op student from another EdTech company who gave me valuable advice and connected me with their supervisor. By reaching out for help, I was able to learn more about SEO through writing and I learned how to be more assertive to find answers on my own.
