Writing Social Media Content
Throughout my time working at Ensightful, I was responsible for all social media content. This included channels such as LinkedIn, Facebook, Twitter and YouTube. When I first started my position, I was restricted to only using LinkedIn. However, after thorough analysis and critical thinking about our target audiences, I took the initiative to begin creating our online presence on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Throughout this initiative, I came up with a marketing plan with user personas and other research (surveys and interviews) to plan out how we could use these platforms to our benefit. I differentiated marketing materials between our three target audiences: students, instructors and directors. By doing this I was able to increase our brand awareness in a more targeted manner which successfully expanded our outreach pertaining to each audience.
Creating Visual Content
As I developed my marketing skills, I also further enhanced my graphic design abilities. I created visual content by following our company brand guidelines to accompany all of my written content on social media and for my blog articles. To create visual graphics, I used software such as Figma, Adobe Illustrator and Canva. Some examples are shown below:
Creating content on a weekly basis is a challenge. Having to independently come up with new and exciting content for three different audiences can be difficult. However, by doing this as a part of my job scope, I learned how to expand my creativity, improve my design and communication skills, and explore different software. I think that this opportunity not only helped me improve my writing abilities but it also gave me another opportunity to work creatively in a way that benefited a specific user. By applying design principles and research strategies to my marketing efforts, I enabled myself to think more about the meaning behind my work and the audience we were trying to reach.
